Understanding Fire Restrictions & Prepare For A Burn
Fire restrictions vary by county, but if you live within Lyons Fire Protection District, there are some steps to holding a burn that are the same. If you intend to hold a burn, make sure you do the following before starting the burn:
Check fire restrictions to ensure that you are allowed to burn
Ensure you have all required permits in place to conduct the burn
Prepare the burn site and ensure you have a water source for the burn
Call Lyons Fire Protection District to notify us of the burn
Call your County Dispatch to notify them of the burn

When am I allowed to Burn?
Depending on whether you live in Boulder County or Larimer County, open burning regulations may differ. Open Burning allowance depends on both what you are burning and where you are burning. Make sure to check with your county website before burning. See below for a list of resources for your county
How do I get a Burn Permit?
You can get a burn permit through your county. If you live in Boulder County, you can apply for a burn permit through their website. If you live in Larimer County, you can use their website to apply.
What am I allowed to Burn?
Depending on where you are, the current conditions, and whether or not you require a permit, you may be able to hold recreational, agricultural, slash, or broadcast burns.
