Auxiliary Positions
Lyons Fire is reorganizing the Fire Department Auxiliary with the help of members of the former Lyons Prepared group. If you would like to be a part of giving back to the Lyons community through the fire district, please complete our standard volunteer application and stipulate that you are interested in the auxiliary.
What is a Fire Auxiliary?
Historically, the Fire Department Auxiliary was made up of family members, fire buffs, and engaged citizens, providing logistical support to the firefighters in their community. The Lyons Fire Auxiliary will be open to all, with a defined purpose of promoting fire prevention education and wildfire mitigation, assisting the fire district with community events and fundraising efforts, offering support for large-scale incidents, and providing support to firefighters’ families in times of need.
If you have always wanted to support your local firefighters, but cannot or do not want to be a full-fledged firefighter, drop us an application before March 15!
Why Lyons Fire?
There are many great benefits as a volunteer with Lyons Fire. All of our volunteers are pension eligible and all volunteering hours will contribute to your pension fund. Additionally, Lyons Fire offers excellent in and out of house training opportunities for volunteers who are interested in expanding their scope of knowledge, or just want to be better responders.
