New ways to support Lyons Fire

The Lyons Fire Protection District is establishing a 501(c)(3) charitable support organization to further its mission of fire prevention and education, and quick and safe response to a wide variety of emergencies.
The goal of the Lyons Fire Fund is to augment the Fire Protection District budget for equipment, facilities, fire prevention and training. Lyons FPD has identified needs beyond our current funding ability, such as: complete the outfitting of the replacement for Fire Station #2 which was lost in the Flood of 2013, replace aging and outdated fire apparatus, upgrade equipment to meet current safety standards, construct a fire training facility, and increase training to support the growing number and types of emergencies our volunteer firefighters respond to.
Directors are currently being sought for the new organization. Members of the public are invited to apply by submitting a letter or email to the Lyons FPD Board of Directors stating your contact information, background and interests. Our main qualification is the willingness to work enthusiastically to support the organization’s goals. Volunteers are also needed for projects such as fundraising, event planning, public relations, social media communication, and grant writing. This is a great way to support the fire district, even if you don’t have the time or inclination to be a volunteer firefighter.
