Hertha Ridge Wildfire Update

Update on wildfire burning near Carter Lake-The Hertha Ridge Wildfire near Carter Lake is 70+ acres with approximately 50% containment. Several SEAT drops have occurred and the Multi Mission Aircraft (MMA) has flown the fire. No additional evacuation orders have gone out since the first voluntary evacuation order of 35 structures. According to Berthoud Fire, there are currently no residents at the evacuation site at the Berthoud Community Center but Red Cross remains on standby in the event conditions change.

Berthoud Fire has transferred command to LCSO. Operations are expected to continue throughout tonight and into tomorrow. Larimer OEM is providing logistical support as needed.

There may be a strong odor of smoke and smoke visible in the valleys up by Blue Mountain, X Bar 7, Spring Gulch and Grey Mountain and by our Station 2 location tonight and tomorrow morning until the plume lifts late morning. Lyons Fire will continue to monitor the fire and update as necessary.

Cold Springs Fire Update

As of 11:00 am today, the fire was 606 acres with 0% containment and 5 homes lost. More hand crews and engines are continuing to come to assist. Multiple aircraft and ground crews are working the fire today. Cooler temps today but wind gusts are expected throughout the day. For current info please visit Boulder Office of Emergency Management’s page.They are continuing to put updated information regarding the fire, road closures and evacuation notices on their page. Please stay out of the area due to multiple fire agencies and aircraft trying to get this fire contained.

Fire near Nederland

There is a large Wildland fire burning on the Peak to Peak Highway near Nederland. Lyons has sent some resources to assist at the fire. Smoke will most likely be visible in the Lyons Fire Protection District. We will provide updates as necessary.

North St. Vrain Accident 2/26/2016

A motorcycle accident near Stone Mountain Lodge on Hwy 36 (North St. Vrain) is causing traffic to be detoured onto Apple Valley Road between the lower intersection and the upper. We will post updates as they become available.
