To residents of Lyons-
As most of you know we have a very large disaster on our hands. We are doing everything in our power to get to everyone as quickly as possible. Please bear with us. As of 9:00 p.m. this evening, we had a few members with the FEMA Task Force 1 Team as well as a few National Guard crew that made it into Lyons to assist us with search and rescue efforts. Lyons is completely isolated. It was very difficult for them to make their way into to us. We are advising residents to shelter in place if possible and get to higher ground if need be. We have limited resources at this time but should hopefully have more crews to help us tomorrow if they can get in to us. I will try and update everyone when I can- You can also refer to the Town of Lyons Facebook page as they are trying to post updates as well. A temporary evacuation center has been set up at the Lyons Elementary.
You need to conserve food and water and may need to remain self sufficient for a possible 24-48 hours more. The rain is not letting down and we are going to continue to have small surges. We are also asking people to not drive on the roads- those who are getting stranded and needing rescue. Help is on the way, but again it is very difficult to get crews into us for assistance due to very high, fast moving water flows!
I encourage all of you to stay strong! We will make it through this. We are here for you and doing the absolute best we can with the resources we have to get to each and every one of you!!
